Of all the lathes we are asked to guard, the Colchester Triumph 2000 comes up most often. Over the years Machine Covers has supplied more guarding for this model than for any other lathe, so we have put together the package we would normally recommend for it.

Our recommended guarding package
- IEB Chuck Guard (polycarbonate screen) – a Repar2 interlocked chuck guard with a steel structure, available with polycarbonate or laminated glass screens, and a fixing support that sits neatly by the headstock.
- TC2 Saddle Guard (polycarbonate screen) – a non-interlocked guard that moves and swivels with the longitudinal carriage. It is fitted to the rear of the saddle and protects the operator from chips and coolant.
- AR2000200 Roller Units – Repar2 lead screw covers, supplied as a pair.
- AR Roller Unit Mounting Brackets – custom-fabricated by Machine Covers Ltd to suit the Repar2 AR roller units on the Triumph 2000.
- Stock Bar Cover – see below.

The stock bar cover
Our non-interlocked stock bar cover suits the majority of turning machines. It is made from 2.5mm steel, powder-coated RAL 1007, and fixes to the headstock by drilling and tapping M6. Two spring-loaded hinges hold it open during through-bar machining so it never rests on, or rattles against, the rotating bar. When closed, the same hinges press it against the headstock, so there is no rattle there either. Simple, safe and effective.

Lead screw protection
The AR roller units cover the feed and lead screws, and our own brackets make sure they mount correctly on the Triumph 2000.

You can see more of the turning machine guards we supply on our turning machine safety guards page.
